Vedge
We landed in Philadelphia on a hot summer afternoon, summer in Philly is very much like Saigon, hot and humid. I think the humidity came from the rain that came that same afternoon. We caught the rain while walking around exploring and shopping in the city.
Against the boys' will, we decided on a vegetarian restaurant, Vedge. It was highly recommended on the keywords: “famous vegetarian restaurant in Philly”. The restaurant was between fine dining and an eatery restaurant. The vibe and the price were fine dining for a vegetarian restaurant, but some guests, like us, dressed casually.
The menu was diverse and interesting, mixing cultures as they had a dish that came in a Phở broth and a Spicy dan dan noodle. We ordered two rounds, the first round was quite salty, so we had to ask them to cut down the salt for our second round.
The restaurant focuses many of its dishes on grilled vegetables, which brings out its natural sweetness. The food was on point delicious, and a very interesting take on different cuisines of the world.
We had a lot of fun tasting all the dishes and found a lot of interesting combinations. My favorites were probably the “Grilled Tofu” and “Campire carrot”. The sweetness from the vegetables and
I love how instead of having a name for each dish, they list out the ingredients that were used in the dishes. That way, it’s easier to pick out what we want to try and not have to worry about allergies or an ingredient that the guests dislike.
Everything we ordered for dinner was delightful, some were very interesting and some were too salty for my taste. I would love to return to try the rest of the menu, maybe even some desserts as well. I would recommend calling to book a table, as the restaurant gets quite busy and has a long line of wait.
